Notes from the Hundredth Chamber

FOI Studios· 12 August 2026

A production diary from the rooms that would not sit still for the camera.

We entered the first chamber in the late afternoon, when the sandstone still held heat. The lamp was not a prop. It was how the room expected to be seen.

The Hundredth Chamber is being built as a sequence, not a single image. Some days the dust is the subject. Some days it is the gap between two alcoves, and the decision not to fill it.

What we are protecting

  • The feeling of a threshold
  • The sound of a room before anyone speaks
  • The right of the work to remain unfinished in public

This diary will continue as the project moves.

The lamp as the room's own expectation — that sentence has been in my head all week. Thank you for not filling the gap between the alcoves.

I have been standing in rooms that wait. This helped me name it.
